Exede Evolution Satellite Internet Launches in Missouri

CARLSBAD, Calif., Dec. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- All 114 counties in Missouri, plus the city of St. Louis, are included in the rollout for the new Exede® Evolution satellite Internet plan from ViaSat Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT). Exede Evolution offers unlimited, full-speed access for web pages and email as well as a high-speed Early Bird Free Zone for other Internet services. The 12 Mbps Internet service is available virtually everywhere across the state.

The expansion of the unique service plan, now offered in 30 states, is the result of strong customer response to a limited market introduction earlier in the year.

“The results of our initial roll-out have been very positive,” said Lisa Scalpone, vice president, Satellite Services. “A significant segment of our customer base values unlimited, high-speed access to web pages and email.”

For these subscribers, Exede Evolution is ideal for the majority of their daily online activities, including e-mail, browsing, banking, shopping and social media. According to a new Georgia subscriber, who shared her comment on Facebook, “I signed up for the Evolution Package in November, and I have been so happy with it. The connection is amazing…it’s much faster than the DSL that I had when I was living in town. The plan is absolutely perfect for me.”

Other subscribers may continue to opt for Exede Classic plans offering the same speed as Evolution, but with fixed data allowances. All Exede plans include a five-hour free zone for unlimited, unmetered Internet activity.

Exede Evolution is another illustration of ViaSat’s transformation of satellite Internet — first with access and speed and now with innovative service plans.

“We think of Evolution as the first step in creating a new kind of service plan that uses the latest network management technologies to provide an even better customer experience,” Scalpone said.

ViaSat has announced plans for the launch of another groundbreaking satellite, ViaSat-2, which is expected to be the highest capacity communications satellite in the world at the time it launches in 2016.

The Exede Evolution plan includes:

  • Unlimited, full-speed access to email and web pages for $64.99.
  • 5 GB of data to use for other Internet activity, including music, streaming media and chat.
  • Introductory offer that waives the initial set-up fee of $149.99.
  • Download speeds of up to 12 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 3 Mbps.
  • Early Bird Free Zone, which provides full-speed, unmetered access to everything on the Internet, including video, from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. daily.
  • Introductory offer of award-winning anti-virus/anti-spyware software.
